“It Had to be Like That, to End up Like This.” That was the title of a sermon I heard many years ago. Admittedly, I always try to find something positive out of bad situations. When I think of the sexual abuse I survived, I know without a doubt, that had it not been like that, it wouldn’t have “ended” up like this. Let’s be deliberate about extracting the good from ugly situations we experience in life.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am humbled and grateful to stand and lift my voice to help eradicate child sexual abuse. No Longer Invisible (NLI) has been a year in the making and our time has come! Thanks to the Penn State sex abuse scandal, this issue is on the hearts and minds of people everywhere right at this very moment. Who knew the sports arena would be a conduit for the subject of sexual abuse? Really??? Really!!! I’m here to say, whatever doors open, I’m goin’ in…wearing my courage on my sleeve, literally!
Get ready world! Survivors have severed the silence, secrecy and shame of abuse! Opponents of abuse are standing with us! Together, we are NO LONGER INVISIBLE!
